Hey guys,

so unfortunately i lent my car yesterday and the person i lent it to damaged one rim and the tire. Ok cool the rims are easily repairable i probably don't need to buy a new rim, but i'm curious about the tire. I don't know much about tires, so for me it looks like a small mark, but i mean at the same time a small mark can possibly also be a huge risk. What do you think? I post the pictures below

IT's on the sidewall. I would probably look at getting it changed, and avoid going over 40.
But I'm an aircraft mechanic and which makes me a little more safety conscious.

That's my thoughts, at least.

That's no issue.

I'd go to a local tire shop and let them have a look at it, but of course they just want to sell me 2 new tires anyways, since you always need to change a set of two per axis.

It's a small, very shallow gouge in the sidewall. Plus, it's located on the thicker rubber molded rim protector. It's nothing to worry about at all.

The damage is only cosmetic, tire manufacturer's put the extra thickness in the sidewall of low profile tires right next to the rim to minimize curb rash on your rims.

There's steel belts under there as long as they aren't torn up your good to go. And they're definitely not torn with that little gouge. I'd be more upset about the scrapes on the rim if it was me
