Parts Car...

I have a chance to pick up a 2007 Yaris sedan with a blown engine for $300.00 from one of our custodians. The body is in excellent shape and the interior is great. The car has ~ 300 000 km on it. Right off the bat, it has really good winter tires and wheels. Mine are quite worn. It also has a really nice center console with arm rest that mine doesn't. I don't know if it's 'compatible' with my 06 RS. There may not be room between the bucket seats. Not sure of there is much difference in width between the RS buckets and standard buckets. It also has the nice sill guards with the protectors, unlike mine.

I know it would be hard to say, but are most parts - excluding the interior - interchangeable between my 06 and this 07?

All engine and suspension components are interchangeable. That's about it.

Thanks. I didn't end up buying it. I figure with that many kms, all potential parts are probably in better shape on mine anyway.

I don't know if the Prius and the Yaris share the same 1.5, my buddy fixed up an 07 Prius. Het got the engine & tranny for $250 each. I guess they're hard to get rid of at the junkyard.

I seriously thought about it. The body was really good. The interior was in pretty darn good shape too. It might have been hard to get past the 'finance committee (AKA, wife) however, especially since I'm doing a lot to this car.

Yeah, I know. I don't think opportunities like that come along often. I really wanted it as a parts car but once I discovered that the interior parts were incompatible with my car, I decided not to buy. I had taken home the sill guards (which had the tabs that come out and protect the top of the sill) and they didn't fit, sadly. The other issue was where to store the car. The car has actually gone to auction now.

Not sure what a 2zz is but willing ot learn. :smile:
