PCV Container hack. 8 inch PCV Pipe, capped at both ends, put sensors in the pipe before capping, put in trunk. Done.

Could always use a techstream to zero out all the sensor codes? Not sure if that would work or not

Either the batteries in the sensors go flat, or the owner has separate sets of wheels and tyres for Summer and Winter.

Once you put the right amount of air into the tube, the TPMS will still read the correct tire pressure, but it'll be from the tube. Then you throw it someplace in the truck and the system will be tricked into thinking the the sensors are in the tire. You can swap wheels and tires to your hearts desire at that point. It's just another work around, if someone chooses to do it that way.

I replced the wheels and tires, and want to sell the stock alloys with the TPMS still in them.

On the 2nd gen cars, there is a wire that can be spliced into another wire that will defeat the TPMS warning permanently.

I used that hack on my 2nd gen car and I'm asking if that same fix will work on the 3rd gen cars.

"There is not a simple solution for 3rd gen (2012+), as the TPMS ECU now sends the info to the cluster via CAN bus message, rather than by a simple single line driving an LED.

The third gens do allow you to easily relearn the TPMS sensors by simply pressing a button, so the simplest solution is to have a second set of sensors in your alternate rims."


So I guess no wiring hack available, at this time, for 3rd gen owners.

You can try doing the relearn procedure with the tire sensors away from the car and it might shut the light off.

I remember seeing that post, but couldn't remember the details. Thanks for finding it.

Looks like I'll have to remove the tpms and do the pvc tube thing until it's time for new tires.

I fitted new wheels/tyres the day I got my car and chose not to install the TPMS in the new wheels. The sensors are sitting in my garage, and the dash light has been on ever since. Doesn't bother me at all.

My TPMS works really wel and is totally reliable. I just go round the tyres every week with an accurate pressure gauge.:biggrin:

my tpms is broken on my 3rd gen. it doesnt read and my tires sometimes get flat. :c
