Love how the blurb indicates gen1 model years (which would be the fugly Echo sedan in your world), yet shows pic of gen2 HB.

Agreed. Half those cars where financial successes for their respective companies and others have had LONG lineages of generations.
For example, neither the Scion iQ, nor the Honda Insight ZE1 made the list, nor the Insight ZE2, CRZ, 2002-2005 Honda Ep3, Mitsubishi I-Miev, etc. All the cars I listed were financial flops or inceredible disappointments of marketing and styling. Writer couldn't put a list together to save his life.
To me, from a business sense at least, if you take a bland sh!t car like a Caliber or PT Cruiser (both of which can be had as SRT4s (well GT for the PT) and sell them in droves at a financial profit, Id say that's a success.
