Part Identification Please?

I got into the inner fender on the drivers side of my 07 Hatch and found a part I don't know what it is. It's a resistor of some sort, and the white ceramic is all busted up. Can someone tell me what it is for? Thanks!

Here it is.... seems kind of strange to put it in the inner fender.

it's the resistor for the controlling the 2 speeds on the cooling fan. You need this if you have A/C.

Its your cooling fan resistor. I ended up with a spare one from a front end i salvaged off another Yaris. I've seen them on eBay for less than £15.

As mentioned.
It is a large wattage resistor in the fan wiring.
Connected in series with the fan motor for the lower speed.
A relay should short across it when the fan is needed at full speed.

So yesterday I went to the wrecking yard. Couldn't find one of these unicorns.... I mean ballast resistors. So I went over to NAPA and asked if I could go through the book and find a 1.3 ohm ballast resistor. Found that Mopar used a double ballast on some of their vehicles with a 1.28 ohms on one side, and 5.X on the other (NAPA Echlin ICR 24 is the part). So, I bought one of them for 8 dollars and put it in. I measured it with a meter in the store, and measured 1.3 ohms on it anyway.... so I'm happy, lol. Thanks for the help my friends....

BTW, the dealer wanted 138 dollars for this thing. If you go this route, just be sure to measure and use the correct side.
