The Yaris never ceases to amaze. Yet another DIY job done with an absolute minumum of fuss. This was performed on my 08 Yaris. As soon as my gasket arrives, I'll repeat the process on the 06.
Yesterday I drained an replaced 3L of ATF. Today, I dropped the pan, changed the filter and refilled.
The pan was spotless, leading me to believe that service must have been performed at least once since the car was new. It has 175000 km on the odometer.
Having dropped pans on other vehicles and having to deal with messy glued on gaskets, cleaning the mating surfaces etc, I was pleasantly surprised as the Yaris gasket came right off with a quick pull leaving no residue behind. A simple wipe with a shop towel was all that was needed. The magnets in the pan had the typical very fine grease on them. There was nothing even remotely gritty in there and not even the tiny metal filings you would normally find on the magnets.
Since I didn't have an inch pounds torque wrench handy, I just tightened by holding the ratchet at the head. No leaks so far, thankfully. Shifting is so smooth as to be almost imperceptible.
