Hello everyone,

First post here- hoping someone can help me. I acquired a first generation Yaris 1sz-fe as a spare car.

It seems to have an issue with starting when warm, it turns over for ages to the point where I feel it may not start, but it always does. Starts perfectly fine when cold, after a couple of turns.

Spark plugs are new, new air filter, cleaned the maf and no codes on the OBD.

I’m a bit stumped, thinking it may be the coolant temp sensor or something along those lines, anyone got any suggestions?

Many thanks!

I think all my Japanese small cars back to 1979 Mazda GLC, but not this Yaris (yet) have had this occasional hot restart long cranking thing.

Evap system sucking fuel line dry back to the tank?
Sensors, choke, high-idle circuits, and fundamental combustion requirements etc. are really designed for cold starts, and a hot restart after a rest period of a certain time range in certain conditions gets them out of wack?
