I’ve always known about this, but I’ve never known what it is, so I figure I’ll ask you guys. It’s located by the hood latch and fusebox. It has a phillips head screw on it. It looks like it’s adjustable in some way. It has a stray blue wire that’s not connected to anything. What is this thing? Thanks!

Are you the original owner of the car? Because it looks like some sort of aftermarket item. I also own a 2014 and that is not present on my car.

I’m not the original owner. I feel like it’s part of the alarm that was installed at the dealership when I bought it used. Also near it (but not shown) is a small device with 3 wires plugged into it with a button and a blue light. The alarm included a manual that showed what the button and blue light was for. It turned the alarm off and on and whatnot. This thing, however, has me stumped. It wasn’t included in the alarm manual.

After a few hours of googling, I think I’ve found out that it’s part of the alarm system. It’s a sensitivity adjustment. Not entirely sure why that’s necessary but there it is.

Bingo, if your alarm gets set off by peoples exhaust/sound systems you turn it down. I wish some people came with these :bellyroll:

Rumor has it that this device is also an immobilizer that shuts my car off if I don’t make my car payment. Is that true at all?

(I’m good on my car payments, not to worry, just curious)

In the US it could be an alarm, immobilizer, an GPS tracking device or any combination of the three. The item in your picture is definitely a shock sensor for an aftermarket alarm system.
