Back in September, I drove my Yarry from Florida to CA to be delivered to HI. I had no problem at all. I had a screw in one tire and had a plug in. My check the engine light stay on from at least TX to CA and I could not figure it out why, until I looked at my change my oil sticker. I left FL it was on 79 or something like that and the light came on when it hit 81,000. I had the oil changed in Hawaii. My Yarry is a great car. I sometimes treat her like a small truck. She has carried fifteen boxes, another time carred book shelves that had to be put together, a recliner, a treadmill twice, a glider excerise machine twice. She is also paid off. She might not have all the bells and whistles that new models have, her speed odemeter is just above the radio and air conditioner, instead behind the steering wheel. I drove during the day during my trip. Yarry got up to 80 going around other cars. I don't think I would have felt safe going any faster.

They are a great little car. I really enjoy both of my hatchbacks. You have me intrigued...please tell me a bit more about your check engine light and how it relates to your oil change sticker. Did you run low on oil? I have not heard of oil life monitoring on a Yaris, but maybe some models have that?

Not really a highway car, but I'm surprised myself how well it does on freeways/highways. That flick-ability is fun, just gotta keep up the momentum.

Hey, just tellin' it like it is. I was on the fence about changing out my 06 dashboard as it has some pretty nasty scratches on it. This past summer I found one in excellent shape and can procure it for $150.00 CAD. Decision is made now...I'm doing the swap out - inspired by your pic. I just love a clean, relatively scratch-free interior.

I'm right there with you. Although I'm enjoying a lot of the rat-rod and N.F.G. style builds I'm seeing lately, I've always been the type to like to keep my cars looking as new/clean as possible.
Sweet deal for a new dash at $150!

Yeah, the auto recycling place has two Yari hatchbacks and both have pretty good interiors. $150.00 is a good price as I'd been quoted over $300.00 from a couple other places and they could not even offer me pics. The glove box on my 06 has a broken hinge, so I'll need that too but I think the guy said around $40.00 for that. I'll see if I can get them to throw the gauge cluster surround in. One of the previous owners must have carried some metal beams or similar as the passenger side is deeply scratched in a few spots. Grrrr.... Haha!

Oh yeah, that would irk me every time I looked at it.
Much like my door dings!

Yup. My wife enjoys telling her immediate family that I "made her" walk - 8 months pregnant - across the parking lot so we could park away from the hoards of Walmart shoppers that can't get close enough to the entrance. I went with her of course for moral and physical support.

They are an amazing little car. I couldn't be happier with mine. I'm not sure i want to drive anything else (as a daily driver) really ever.
Year before last I drove mine 7,500 miles to well above the Arctic circle and back through 7 countries in 20 days with a busted up front end and a worn out clutch stuffed with camping gear (for the cold), 3 weeks of clothes and a bit of food as well. I also had it up to 177kph in Germany on the Autobahn. It seems to cruise in excess of 80mph quite happily on the motorway.
Been on trips to Scotland, Cornwall. Put thousands of miles on it. Commuted 20,000+ miles a year.
I've had huge amounts of wood, garden waste and building rubble in mine. I helped moved house in it once. I've had 2 dozen 2x4's in it a few times. I managed to get a very bulky rolling toolbox in mine once. I also moved 2 engines in the back for a friend of mine who flips cars.
