My 2008 toyota yaris sedan is making a squealing noise when I start it up and also when I slow down. When I start it up, it only makes the noise as it starts and then goes away. When I slow down, it does not make the squealing sound as soon as i touch the brakes, but after i hit the brakes, when I release them(when I'm slowing down...). It only makes the noise at 20mph or less... only at a slow speed such as in a parking lot.

Ill be bringing it in later this week but want to know what to expect.... or how much money I can expect to throw away.... Has anyone else had this issue?

EDIT: History on the car: changed front brake pads and front rotors last year, just changed serpentine belt a month ago, serpentine belt just inspected again and tightened 2 weeks ago & noise still being made.

Serpentine belt is likely the problem. Many aftermarket ones are crap, like I found out and tend to stretch more. You can get the toyota OEM ones which are made by mitsuboshi or bando, and they work well. Since this car doesnt have a spring tensioner, a better belt always needs to be used.
