The Cigarette Lighter is broken on my 2005 Yaris.

There are videos on YouTube on how to fit a new 1. These all seem to be the previous model to mine though.

I have removed 2 screws from the control knobs, Heater, Blower. I've then removed 2 screws from the CD Player. Have then removed 2 screws from the back of the Ashtray. I thought i would then be able to pull the bottom panel out. I have managed to pull it slightly out, nowhere near enough to get to the the cigarette lighter. Am scared to pull it hard in case i break something. Don't know if i have missed a fixing somewhere.

Any help much appreciated.

Just make sure you d/c the battery first.. then lift the retainer clips from inside the well with a small flat edge screw driver to pull the metal housing out.

I take it i can fit it from the front rather than pulling the bottom trim out. Also, are most cigarette lighters universal fit. I have a breakers yard near me but they mainly have Fords & Vauxhalls.

As with all components, there will be some differences. Either the unit will come out the front of the opening (there is usually visible lip protruding) or it will have to be removed from behind (like older cars). Maybe it's something I've never seen before and I've worked on some unique stuff.

Post a picture. Someone'll chime in.
