GMC Terrain SLE with a few tech packages and some dealer added options. MSRP around 32K. Leased the car for $129/month.

I was a little put off by the design at first, although it's not horrifying to look at like a new Toyota. But, the lease special made the car seem SO much more attractive. LOL.

The Terrain has been getting 5 star reliability ratings and excellent reviews for a number of years, so that made the decision quite easy.

Here are several photos:

Congrats, I hope that you enjoy the Terrain SLE. It's looks BIG, lol. Is that a CR-V sized SUV? Bigger than the Toyota RAV4 or Buick Envision I assume? 26/30 MPG isn't as bad as I was picturing when I first saw your post. If I bought a RAV4 sized vehicle, it would HAVE to be a hybrid.

I noticed it has the Stop/Start engine control system. That drove me crazy on the Envision rental I had recently. Since you leased one, I assume it didn't bother you as much as it did me.

I'm waiting for more info on the next-gen, global-platform, US-spec 2019 Toyota iM/Auris before I make any decisions on another vehicle. I would LOVE to pick up a compact/subcompact hybrid vehicle that I like & trust - but I am still waiting for one to hit the US market, lol.

Because it's a rather "square" design, it appears/seems bigger than it actually is... at least that's my impression. I think it's about the same size as the Buick Envision.

I got a little over 35MPG on the highway yesterday.

BTW, it's an Opel platform like so many GM products.

Amazing that the electric BMW car's styling became trend setting.

^^^ Yup. The GM lease specials were certainly a motivating factor. From a Toyota Camry to a Buick Encore and from a Toyota Yaris to a GMC Terrain. As a diehard Toyota fan and JDM enthusiast, I never thought I'd be driving cars with American badges. Never say never.

Is it a diesel???

The diesel one looks incredible! Holy crap! 30+mpg!

No, not a diesel. Drove the diesel and didn't care for it. This is the 1.5L Turbo with a 9-speed transmission... that is quiet and performs extremely well. The car is actually quick!

I averaged 27.1 MPG in town today.

^This.

In any case, it's a nice looking ride and I'd bet my paycheck it's comfy as hell. Congrats and enjoy!

$129 a month lease for a 32k suv??? Wow, nice. Is it a 24 month, 10k miles a year lease? $0 down?

Saw one on the road today in black. Looks really good and a decent sized suv.

Are you talking about the floating roof design? I generally don't like the floating roof. It looked terrible on the Matrix. Most current models with this design trend don't appeal to me, either. Toyota/Lexus has done a pathetic job! But, IMHO, the GMC Terrain, Buick Enclave, and Chevy Bolt seem to have pulled it off with style, and I actually like it.

Although it is just black plastic, not glass...

I think the floating roof started with Toyota's Matrix, but it didn't create a trend at that time. Even Toyota eventually redesigned the Matrix and deleted the floating roof.

Indeed! I actually always thought of our 3rd-gen Yaris as a "Honey, we shrunk the Matrix"
