Ok guys, I'm about to install an amp to my stock head unit (single CD). I'm using a line output converter to be able to use RCA wires. My only issue is: Where do I get the remote wire from the head unit to send the signal to the amp??? I looked for a dark blue or blue with stripe wire, but don't see it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

When I did that with my last car the converter had a fifth wire that I used for the remote and it worked perfectly, don't know if yours does but hey.......

Most stock radios do not have a remote turn on. Just use the acc wire.

either use an acc wire, or like plushDJ said, most of the nicer "adapters" have the remote wire

But using the acc wire, will cause the amp to be on even when radio isn't!

That's the only way to do it with a factory radio. Unless you buy a line out converter that also has a remote turn on.

well you can always use an acc wire, but put it through a regular on/off switch first, then to the amp and if you have the car on but don't want the amp for whatever reason, just flip the switch off and the amp will turn off

I ended up getting a meter and checking for the accessory wire on our stereo. On our stereo we have a blue harness that hooks up to the back of the stereo. I tested without the key in the ignition and found which wire had power without the key (light blue) and then when I turned the key to ACC, there was a wire (grey) that got power, only when the key was in ACC. So that's what I used for the remote. This way the amp turns on only in that mode. Thanks for your help guys.
