Hi everyone!

I'm waiting on a cascade blue 5 door YR, which is being built in June. I decided to go with Cascade blue from how it looks on the Toyota webpage (http://www.toyota.com.au/toyota/vehicle/FreeText/0,4665,2301_662,00.html)

But I've seen a few second hand cars on www.drive.com.au advertised as Caribbean blue that look more like cascade blue to me. Also, I've seen a few cars driving around that are really really dark blue, and I am hoping my car wont be THAT dark.

Any idea what is going on? Do the car colours subtly change each year or something?

Any insights are appreciated!

Cheers

Heather

Edit : Ok the blue that you ordered is the ones that you would see on the road. The dark blue.

carribbean blue is rare to see, cuz i havnt seen one yet. So you will get that dark blue you see so many of.

I'm just so confused that something like this:
http://www.drive.com.au/used-cars/TOYOTA/YARIS/Sydney/detail.aspx?id=3382293&pg=4&pp=14&d=0&nv=1&SG=293975692

is described as Caribbean blue, when that is NOTHING like what Caribbean blue looks like on the Toyota website!!!

Toyotas website colours is a tad darker than the real thing....look at cherry red then look at my avatar.....my car is def lighter than the cherry red posted on toyota.com.au

I have not seen a Carribean Blue ~ I was going to get it cause I quite like the colour ~

However I had to wait 3 - 4 months for it and I needed a car (my Honda Civic decided to die on me) and I needed it fast.....and one of my favourite colours is white and there was a Snow Cap White YRX coming in so I took it ~

But yea.....car sites and stuff do get the colours mixed up.....or rather....."they don't really care.....as long as they sell the car" ~

If you want to see how crap the website colours are, take a look at how they have the green. The blues look NOTHING like they do on the website. One blue looks like "blazing blue" the other looks like "bayou blue". Look up the threads on these two colours.

i just saw the "dark blue" colour on the road for the 1st time.....that blue is REALLY DARK!! like DARK NAVY!!

the lighter blue is the caribbian blue that everyone sees.

^Looks quite different in different lighting.^

As you can see, cascade blue is a lot softer, but both are very nice colours. :)

I just realised that there is a colour on the website called "shadow" which is a blue-grey. So now I have no idea which is cascade and which is shadow. Seriously though, with all the digital programs like photoshop, how did Toyota get their colours so wrong?

There are quite a few shadow driving around Sydney. Its a nice colour. I'm hoping my car wont really be navy! I'm sure I saw a much lighter blue in the showroom which I assumed was Caribbean blue, but then Ranggarn's car looks more like cascade blue looks on the website.

All very confusing!

So I changed my order from Cascade Blue (more like Cascade NAVY!!!) To Caribbean Blue, since thats what I thought I was getting in the first place. I hope it doesn't take too long a time to arrive as I am moving to Camden and will really need a car in early August!!!!!!!!

Glad you changed it, rather than being "slightly unhappy" throughout the car's life and regretting your purchase.

The main thing is, don't trust the colour pickers or squares in webpages or brochures. You really need to see a picture of the car actually painted that colour.

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to get my car

I haven't really driven a Toyota before, except a rental Corolla in South Africa for a week, but I am going around Australia (well to Townsville and then Alice Springs anyway) in a friend's 2007 Camry in July so by the time I actually get my car I'll have been in a toyota quite a bit!

Very exciting :w00t:

Cheers
