i like the looks and would be happy to own it

but of course the dealer played their usual lame games on the ONLY Yaris in stock thats been sitting there a while and will still be there in 6 months

19828 + 11% OTD = 22009 which is ~2K higher than it should be and they let me walk

sad too because im exactly the guy to buy the car

I'm not sure how I feel about it's overall looks. I don't like the headlights and tail lights that's for sure. IMHO, the best looking yaris is the SE from 2012-2014

I looked at the 2018 Yaris LE the other day when I was getting my oil changed.

I think the tail lights are an improvement. But that front end... it's aquatic.

And, almost $20K for the SE? That's insane. You can buy an iM (with rebates/incentives/discounts) for much less than that.

My sister just bought a 2018 Yaris, but I don't have all the details on it just yet. It is the European model though, as she lives in Italy. Still looks the same as ours however.

If they could spec it comparable to a Fit, it would be well worth it. A loaded Yaris doesn't come with very much. The only additions seem to be projector lights and TSS.

i was lookin' at the italian yaris site

the engines available there are ...

1.5 Hybrid (100 HP) E-CVT

1.0 VVT-i (69 HP)

1.5 VVT-iE (111 HP)

Yea we only get the standard 1.5 in the states I actually kinda wish we got the hybrid because they look pretty damn good. That is, the 2016-17 ones anyway

LOL - $22K for SE trim OTD & still no side-mirror turn-indicators or the much-nicer LED tail lights found in other markets. What a joke.

In contrast, my 2015 SE was $19K OTD total, and that even included the $600-700 that I had to pay extra for shipping from Colorado Springs, CO to my home in Scottsdale, AZ, AND 2 years worth of registration/tag fees on the car (since I somehow overpaid my AZ taxes in that $19K).

On the styling side, I could NOT own the 2018 SE in any color other than black, to blend that 'aquatic' front grill/nose/headlights styling together to remove the polarizing effect it has, as well as blending the black plastic reflector cutouts in rear bumper. Heck, I wish I would have went with black on my 2015 Yaris - Arizona sun be damned. I DO LIKE how the 2018 doesn't have the reverse lights mounted into the lower rear bumper valance though. That is one of the things that I dislike the most about my current 2015.

Here's to hoping that the 2020 or 2021 next-gen global-platform Yaris (& 2019 iM/Auris) is a better effort by Toyota, and will survive transition to the U.S. market without skimping out on all the goodies. (if still even sold here by then).

What are those things attached to the rear, left window of the cars? Some sort of security device?
"the best looking yaris is the SE from 2012-2014". Another in agreement with that statement.

Isn't the IA more of a Mazda than it is a Toyota? Purchased a used 2016 Yaris 1.5 for $8900. Cost per mile hopefully will be around my Corolla I just sold with 390,000

The iA is a Mazda. The iM is a Toyota.

kimona

^^^ Yes, the iA is a Mazda with a fugly Toyota front-end redesign. The iM is a Toyota Auris redesigned for the American market with a juvenile body kit and a pathetic CVT.

Not a fan of black cars anymore, but the 2018 looks just fine in that colour; seems to camouflage the ugly front end.

I love the vid. Did he say the Yaris is one of the best selling subcompact cars? I assume he means in Canada? In the U.S., isn't the Yaris one of the WORST selling subcompacts? I must admit that I like that red paint.

Yes! I love how roomy the cars seems, considering how small it really is. I'm 6'4" and this car is a great fit. Plenty of room. I love the low-tech powertrain, too. Reliable!

It's appearance is growing on me. Still prefer the 2012-2014 look, but the 2018 refresh is an improvement over the 2015-2017 look IMO. If Toyota would only get rid of that stupid chrome trim extending from the headlights and the fog lights it would be a big improvement.

$22,000 is absolutely ludicrous. Shoot, $19,000 is insane to me.
