After 390,000 miles of fun commuting, I'm adding a qt of oil every 1000 miles and I am down from 42 MPG to 34 MPG. All that adds up when you are putting 750 miles a week in. I'll be doing it myself but was looking for any advice on parts. Toyota parts will be about $800, after market range down to a low of $350. You usually get what you pay for but dealership parts are always over priced.
So, Opinions? Also are there any suggested upgrades while its apart? A bit more performance would be nice but I need my MPGs!
Planning on a clutch (still the original) since it will be apart. Thanks.

I got my 2zrfe from a junkyard, been racing it for 2 years and the oil samples always come back clean.

I'm with Armstrong on this one. Grab a used 2zr with lower mileage and have some fun. Or buy a used 1nz with low mileage and get some I/H/E. A used 1nz is cheap and will free up money and a lot of time compared to rebuilding your original block.

Just keep in mind that a 1nz with bolt ons is nowhere near a 2zr performance wise.
