I recently visited Toyota for a maintenance check. After the visit I've noticed after a typical drive then parking the car, only when the car is in drive and my foot is on the brake, there is a loud sound, sorta similar to a rattle; I was informed, rather recommended during the inspection that the roters need replacing and the brakes need the result removed as a result of gradual driving overtime along with road salt.
Could the rattling be the cause of the roters along with the rust behind the brakes or is it something else ?

Probably an exhaust heat shield

Probably an exhaust heat shield
Agreed.
Reach in behind the engine and see if you can wiggle the exhaust manifold heat shield. Mine rattled horribly with foot on brake at stop lights when its mounts had finally deteriorated. If it is still firm, crawl under the car and see if any of the other shields placed along the exhaust route are loose.

Or as they said your brake pads is worn down and now the acoustic indicator is touching the disc when braking.
There is a nice pic here.

You wouldn't be able to take a picture so I can see exactly where to look ?
When the car is in neutral or reverse there is no sound.
When driving for a while then putting the foot on the brake, the rattle sound begins or simply just reversing a few inches when the car is running in a parking lot then driving a few inches followed by putting the foot on the brake the sound will begin.

So, I have the exact same thing happening!
If the mounts have deteriorated how can I fix it?
