View Full Version : Males and the Yaris LB?

I have to admit I was quite surprised at how many men own a Yaris LB. I can understand the Sedan...because (to me) it looks like all the other Sedans out there...but the LB?! It's just soooo cute...I absolutely thought it was totally adorable and had to have one...I definitely thought guys would feel too macho to own something soo cute.
So I have to ask, what makes a guy buy something soo cute that he could possibly be ridiculed by stupid macho men?

Liftbacks/Hatchbacks are for GUYS. If you wanted a GIRLS car that was CUTE you should have gotten a New Beetle. Don't get me wrong there are certain GIRL types who drive GUY cars.
Sedans are for FAMILIES and people with babies/offspring in the back seat.
For me the hatch is a place to put MY stuff.

Sigh, it is cute; I'll be a man and admit it. However, it is mischieveous (sp?) as well! It has an attitude! It's more like the old VW bug than the new VW bug in that it seems to have a personality. Personally, I'm ticked off that old ladies have stolen the new VW bug, what a joke! Or what about all the old folks in the box car, the Scion XD or XB? (whatever it is).
Bottom line:the Yaris is different than anything that came before; that makes it revolutionary; that makes it a cool car to have. I love it!

To me , Coryn (my yaris) is like my little truck . It carries all my guitars and amps . All my guns .I know for a fact that the LB will carry a 205 lb deer. All my camping gear . All my tires and tools for track day . And @ night I got room for 4 cuties
Besides it takes a real man to utilize something feminine . You know kinda like when your man wears your panties around the house . Yeah , like I'm the only one

I personally have no need to compensate by driving a typical "macho car" even though I could. For me the Yaris LB is just fun and that is why I sport one.

Sure, the Yaris is a "cute" car... But it also has, like petesimac said, this mischievous, playful, insolent look to it, kind of like the car is saying "think what you want of me, I don't care", and I guess this attracts drivers with the same mentality

I'm a mid-20's male who thought the car was cute. At 35MPG everyone can laugh at me and tell me I have a girlie car, I don't mind. I have a Chevy Astro van for anytime I need to haul stuff. But for going to and from work and hitting a maximum speed of 55mph, the Yaris makes way more sense.

my girl says its cute too, but at the same time so could a civic or a miata or any other subcompact car. its what you like that counts. its a sad day when somone buys something (esp. a car) because it will make them look more tough. to me it dont mean shit what you drive, its how you drive. ill respect any car if the driver has a real purpose for it. but the little man with the excursion who cant see over the dash and cuts everyone off on purpose... that guy i just laugh at.

I was torn between the XA and Yaris. I went for the Yaris LB BECAUSE it was cute. Fresh, if you will. The car gets a lot of looks, that's for sure. But with gas so expensive let them look. As for being macho - why should I give a shit about what other think about what car I drive.

come on now, you wouldn't have joined a forum if you didn't care to somewhat about what you drove, you are into it:tongue:
now it may not be a part of your person or personality so much but in some whay like all material things people appreciate, it is an extension of what you want to project:biggrin:

I guess what I mean by projection is. You would rather project yourself as an individual that drives an economical somewhat sporty car with clean lines. Rather than someone that drives a Hummer for example and has huge Chrome rims and a BMW motorcycle on the roof rack.

true, your choises are an extension of your personality and desires. but its those choises that define us. i just cant respect the guy who buys a car to be mr. tommy tuff nutz... mostly b/c in the end they drive like a deek.
anyways, i guess none of us should give a rats ass what people say about our car. there will always be those that hate, and those that respect. i just try to show respect untill that person loses my respect, whether they drive a cobra mustang or a beetle.

I want to like the new beetle but the image has been destroyed from seeing to many middle aged chubby women cruising next to me with a plastic daisy sticking up out of that dashboard vase.
I am still a fan of the classic beetle. Always will be. Nothing wrong with a mustang. I know a really cool dyke that drives one.

I could see where some might say the LB is "cute," however the reason I'm attracted to it is 1) it's inexpensive 2) it's reliable 3) it's good on gas and 4) it's so unique it's somewhat of a niche car, kind of like a Mini Cooper or a Miata.

I was walking out to my Yaris this morning and I just got a good feeling about knowing I was about to start it and drive it. Weird but true... I think it was love at first sight, and after driving one, I placed my order a few days later. I just love it! I also laugh everytime I fill up and see an SUV pumping the gas in knowing they are about to pay $75 to my $30 and will burn it at twice the rate. I know some insecure people who just can't own a minivan, they gotta drive an SUV to project the macho thing. Dumbasses.

I'll be the 1st to admit (okay, maybe not THE 1st) that I like the sedan front end WAY better than the LB front. The sedan looks all sleek and business-like, which I AM fond of. However, hatch backs are crazy functional... I daresay once you go hatch, you never go back. I'm in a Vibe right now, and I can't imagine having to deal with a sedan.
Not to mention, the LB is smaller, and IMHO, small = sporty (even if it had under 100hp). So, yeah, the LB needs that big dumb-ass grin wiped off its face, but I have every intention of doing that once I buy one toward the end of the year. That's what body kits are for!

What does wit have to do with cargo? I can understand how you came across some wit with a bad experience, though.
I'm confused with gfs. At first I thought it was the sound Mr. Snuffle-something from Sesame Street makes, but that's kind of out of context. At least I think it's out of context, but I'm not sure because it's hard to tell where the sentences stop and start as nothing is capitalized so the whole flow is off.
Maybe it's the sound Hummer owners make when they fill up their gas tanks, or maybe it's the name of some kid in Africa that will be the first African Astronaut.
I'm not sure how ivy came up as the Yaris doesn't even come in that color.
I also don't understand why you wanted to talk about your pimples. Folks on the Internet can't see your pimples anyway. Or were you speaking of Papal stuff? I don't think the Pope cares about our Yarii. Or were you trying to say papaya? I like pie.
Oh, well, I give up. I'm still not sure what you said, but if you wanted everyone to understand you and hear what you have to say then you'd have damn well spelled things out properly and used some sentence structure to begin with, wouldn't you?

The Yaris liftback happens to fit both group, it can haul cargo and looks cute doing it. Men do seem to get more excited by the cargo hauling capability of the car while the women are more concerned by the aesthetics and if they got a man to handle the massively heavy stuff, then the hatch is a bonus.
In Canada, the 5door liftback with power-package is well priced and around here, that takes priority for the economy shoppers.
