Since I've owned my 2008 Yaris, I have done several short oil changes in an effort to clean up the engine internals. The first few changes were around 3 thousand kilometers and when changed the oil was black but still passed the Lubricheck test in the 5 - 6 range indicating some life left in the oil. The latest oil - pictured in this post has ~ 6000 km on it. It is remarkably clean, just a few shades darker than when it came out of the bottle. The oil is Quaker State Advanced Durability 5W30. I'm pretty convinced that the short OCIs I did have cleaned this engine up really well. It runs beautifully, smooth and has pretty good power. The tests on the current 6000 km oil are coming up between 5 - 6 on the Lubricheck indicating a fair bit of life left. I'll likely run this oil another 1500 km then change it out.

If I can capture the flashing LED light on the Lubricheck, I'll post up a pic of the reading.
