durban? where is that?
plugged air box filter? clean air filter? clean MAF? clean injectors?
if all else fails, there is an idle adjust screw.

For the 1.5L 1NZ-FE engine Yaris the official idle speeds are 550-650 for the M/T and 650-750 for the auto transmission. Rather unlikely that you have the 1.5L engine in ZA but it's a good baseline, and 300 rpm is way too low for any 4 cylinder engine. Most modern engines have electrically controlled throttle bodies so you can't adjust the idle up and down with cable tension like in the old cable operated TB's. If you're not getting and codes or pending codes I'd start with checking the air filer and cleaning the MAF sensor with brake cleaner to see if that improves things.

Maybe your idle is actually 600 rpm, and the 300 reported is due to the "diagnostic" missing a factor of 2. (I used the frequency setting of a multi-meter to find that my manual trans 1NZ-FE stays very close to 600 rpm idle once warm. The rpm pin on the OBD II connector--Toyota designates this "DLC3"--makes 2 pulses per engine revolution.)

How I know the idle is low is when I am driving the car switching of
