View Full Version : Possible Damage?

i solved my problem, yet again. i knew that it couldn't be all that the amp was giving, so i rechecked the wiring just now (it's past midnight here, lol). and i was right, my friend hooked up the RCA cables to the aux cables of the HU. so i swapped those to the rear cables, and now my subs works just fine. being midnight, i couldn't fully test it out or even tune it perfectly (do that later today, along with buying a remote signal wire). now my question is: could having the RCA hooked up to the aux cables, and not the rear cables, cause damage to anything, i.e. sub, amp, etc? thanks again.

no because on your deck the aux is and input right so then there was no signal/power going to your amp then to your subs

weird thing was that there was a tiny bit of power getting to the amp and sub, that's why i could barely hear the sub at all.

did you use a dvom to check voltage or could you really hear the subs some times they can be off but seem on due to the bass of the stock speakers if you did hear them i dont know how to expain that the rcas are the only source of signal

yeah, i could hear and feel them when they were connected to the aux jacks, but barely. we checked the voltage, and got nothing, then again we checked my friend's too, and got nothing (his meter must be broken). really dunno how to explain it too, but hopefully no damage occurred.

well if you got no voltage then there wasnt any if there was you would have one screwie deck i wouldnt worry because its highly unlikely you got out put out of and input reading no voltage, what did you install 12's

don't forget there should be fuses all over the place to prevent things from getting fried even if you screw up and plug the stuff in wrong.

yeah, there's fuses on the HU, power cable, and the amp itself.
