Since I've had several Toyota transmissions apart now and was seeing a pattern, I took a bunch of measurements of the shafts and gears. Turns out all of the C-series gears are cross-compatible! Read more about it on my blog...

Who knew you could get a C-series dogbox?!? Assuming you have a spare $6k sitting around. lol
Interesting read, thanks Tom!

I did a less detailed investigation several years back when I built my gearbox, but came to the same conclusion for the C5x gears. That's how you get the super overdrive 5th gear and closer 1-2, 2-3 ratios. =)

Yes that’s correct! If it wasn’t for you and Bluevitz tearing into these gearboxes before me, I wouldn’t have been so interested to do further research. So thank you!

I was the one that built and documented the c160 conversation for the first Gen platform.

I need this in my life!
someone teach me how.
I hate the huge bog between 1-2 and 2-3, but I love the relatively low hwy rpm in my 2010 CDN model Yaris.

Watch Armstrong's YouTube videos on rebuilding a C60 gearbox. Same basic idea, just has the extra gear on one end. =)

OMG my bad dude. I corrected my post to give YOU credit.
Thank you for showing us the way with the 6-speed brother!

Thanks Sam! I have made it my purpose to put out a bunch of Toyota gearbox info in writing and video form. I hope to show everyone how to modify these gearboxes or possibly entrust me to build some for the community. So for Trevor and Taylor are the only people to receive gearboxes from me....let’s change that!

Hi Guys ,
I am planning to use C150 gearbox 3rd 4th 5th gear set to C56 , are these gears same in size ? Can I use the C56 synchronizer and slider ?
Thanks in advance
