I advise not to have one of those crazy things in the first place. Just a regular key does we very well thank you very much!

When are we ever going to learn ...... Never I guess

Can't care too much about getting my car stolen because they can get the signal froklm my key fob transmitting from my lobby. There is insurance that protect against thief.

Or just place a master cut off switch in the passenger foot well since you routed the battery cable there when you moved the battery to the hatch..... Oh you didn't? Well.... No one wants to steal my car anyways....

I wouldn't buy a car that had this sort of stupid 'convenience' tech-bloat in it, unless there was a way to turn it off & have it stay off. Same goes for a lot of other features that automakers tout as their (stupid) selling points.

Best passive protections against vehicle theft:
(1) Buy the most hated/ignored GREAT car in the U.S. - A Yaris hatchback.
(2) Buy a car with a manual transmission. How sad is that?
(3) Don't buy a car with theft-prone features (or any features that you don't like) that you can't disable once & have them stay off.
