So mechanic did not replace and put a thermostat in?

I'm sure it's taking a long time to warm up.

trying to cause more problems to make more money. get an OEM thermos from camelback toyota or the internet.

Running without a thermostat will make the car run rich (computer increases the fuel to air ratio) and ruin your catalytic converter, foul the plugs and do other bad things. It won't ruin your engine immediately but take darkshadowfox's advice and get a thermostat installed as soon as possible.
