Hello,

Im experiencing a really inexplicable creaking noise in the brake system. I apply the brakes and it sounds like an oscillating creaking/rubbing noise. Brake pads and discs are brand new and calipers we're fully inspected and cleaned of any rust on sliding surfaces. The rear is in good shape as well, shoes are well worn and springs and levers seem to function normally. I lubricated all the contact points on the backplate and the pivot points as well with silicone ceramic grease. Let me know any of your insights, I'm at a loss here.

Thanks

does this happen even when not applying brake pressure? If so then your dust shield behind the rotor is likely just pushed in and rubbing the rotor.

If not than I'd check if you have a rock or anything lodged in your braking system

Can a wheel bearing that is starting to go manifest itself with such noises under braking pressure?

Thanks for your input, but the sound I'm experiencing is not like a backplate type sound. It's more of a groaning. As the poster after you mentioned, it could be a wheel bearing too, didn't think of that. Will check and chime back in.

I’ve got the same phenomenon.
I changed the drum “ with a used one”
The noise gone.

Replace rear brake drum if inside diameter is greater then 201mm.
