Is this a half decent caliper?

My front driver side is sticking and heating up the wheel.I replaced the pins and lubed when I changed the pads and rotor this summer.

Instead of pissing around I figured just get a whole new unit.This one seems really chea$.

I Not sure if I already burned out the bearing(Those are new aswell)

They were replaced this summer(PINS)aswell as rotors and pads.

Well it's a remanufactured caliper so should be no different than what you've got. Me, I'd first just check and re-lube the sliding pins. If however the piston itself is seized, then maybe I'd invest in a caliper replacement.

I put in new pins and boots a few months back.I lubricated with proper grease aswell.

I will take a look,but will most likely replace the whole unit.I dont want to be pissing about mid winter with stuck brakes.I see its a reconditioned unit.Perhaps I should find a brand new one,and possibly do both side while at it.

I agree w/ Wee. Find out why sliders are sticking, unless it is a seized piston but that's unlikely.

What grease did you use? I have never found any brake grease to be as good as purple ceramic permatex. It's not cheap but much cheaper then a new caliper

Hell, taking it in for a brake service is cheaper than buying new calipers!!!

I got the new napa caliper and it wont retract either.Going to have to get it towed to a shop.

Well I replaced the caliper.After a further look it may be a seized bearing.If i get someone to push the brake I can see the inner brake pad squeeze in and slightly retract.The wheel does not spin freely after i put wheel back on.I may just get entire hub unit with bearing and do it myself.Looks like I will be garaging the car a bit early this year either way.If it is the bearing it lasted 1 year.Its a national bearing if that means anything?

NO.I was planning to remove the caliper tomorrow and do that.I will take the other side off aswell to comapre.I dont know what resistance or drag is normal.

I have never had a wheel bearing give zero symptoms before failure.There is no play and zero noise.

From what I can see though the outer pad seems tight against rotor,and the inner pad that moves in kinda lopsided.To explain better the pad retracts but mostly on the top part of pad?

If it happens to be a bearing I will replace the hub and bearing as a unit.The price is not much more for entire unit and i wont need a mechanic to press bearing in.

Sounds like your sliders are seized to me

I installed new caliper.I can see the caliper retract when someone pushes brake.Looks to be a bad wheel bearing most likely.thing is the bearing has no play and is completly silent.Not all that unheard of for a bad bearing,but not common.
