Do throttle controllers do anything on this platform or are they just flushing money down the drain for cool points? \

Thanks.

Considering one.

Are you talking about electronic throttle controllers?
If you are, then...
Because our yaris are drive by wire, many feel a slight lag between the time the step on the pedal and the car actually moving forward. Thats where throttle controllers come in. You can increase or decrease that gap to jump like a jack rabbit or be eco-minded when you adjust the settings on the controller.

My question is whether or not they help with rev hang? I don't care as much about response when applying throttle as I do when releasing the throttle.

rev hang is the transmission being delayed. id talk to toyota about it because it happens to me alot too.
