I'm interested in replacing the Blazing Blue hood on my LB. Within the first month that I got it I got two honking big chips out of the paint from road debris on my mountain commute, and everything I have tried to do to fix it has just made it look more and more ghetto.

I've seen the carbon fiber hood and it's cheaper than getting my stock one repainted, but I am more interested in keeping a factory look.

If anyone has a Blazing Blue hood for the LB available please PM me and we'll see if we can figure something out.

Did you get the paint quote from the dealer, or a body shop?

I solicited quotes from several body shops and they were all within $100 of each other. Neither Toyota dealer in my region does paint.

The cost of getting the hood painted is artificially inflated due to everyone talking about having to "go into the fenders" to "blend" the paint, and all of them offering the same shifty quip that paint codes don't mean anything.

I find it odd that the $20 paint pen I got from expresspaint.com has no problem matching the color using the code but none of my local body shops seem to be able to.

How big are these paint Chips?

They were originally the size of a nickel but by the time I was done trying the ghetto repairs the affected area is about the size of a baseball. Most of it is just rough clear coat but the two original spots are now a darker blue than Blazing Blue and are each about the size of a quarter.

My offer still stands though for buying it.

I will definitely keep you in mind, Chris, but first I need to find a pre-painted replacement.

get a CF one, (cheaper than OE) then paint it gloss black like Takumi's 8-6!
