My kid's '08 Yaris hatchback leaks from under the dash, between the steering column and the fuse panel. The carpet behind the pedals is wet and I think the source of the leak is in that area. There was an inch of water in the driver seat floor pan. There what I have done so far:

1. Regasketed the tail lights. They were leaking too.
2. Removed the squirrel nest from under the wiper motor and opened the drains.
3. Pulled the seats and carpets.
4. Checked the floor pan drain plugs.
5. Put a halogen lamp under the dash to see if any light was visible from the engine compartment. Light coming from AC line set opening. Not where the water is coming from but I sealed it up to keep the squirrel out. (Found a bunch of seeds and nuts under the carpet.)
6. Read all the other leak threads.

I'm kind of at a loss for where to search next for the source of the leak. Any thoughts?

Update: I just found two decayed foam gaskets behind the strut towers. Looks like the water runs off the windshield and partly down the cowl drain and partly past these gaskets. Maybe into the cabin? Applied some RTV and we'll see.

Thanks.

Might as well confirm clear the HVAC box drain tube over on the passenger side.

While its all torn apart, might as well.

You should get in the car and have someone spray it with a hose pipe to see if you can locate where its coming from. I had a similar issue with mine that turned out it was a hole in the windscreen sealant and it was running all the way down the inside of the bulkhead and into the passenger foot well.

Big rain last night. Wet again on the driver's side. Wet way up under the dash behind the clutch pedal. SH1T!. I pulled the wiper pan out and noticed some corrosion/small hole on the firewall right next to the cowl drain that dumps into the wheel well. Filled the hole with silicone. Around the windshield seams dry. I am out of ideas. Could really use some insights. Thanks.

The hose idea as been put out there and I think you should do it. Get a mate to hose that sucker down while you have your head on the floor boards looking up with a flashlight.
