Hey Y'all,

It's a sad time in my life- I was hoping to put many more miles on my Yaris, but a family member is offering me a free car, so I'm posting here to (hopefully) sell my ride to a YW member.

Style: Two Door HB
Miles: 186,xxx
Color: Gray
Trans: 5 speed manual

Add-ons:
Hitch
4 pin trailer wiring
CT Scott Style Cruise Control (Two Buttons- On/Off & Set)
Cruise control clutch wiring

The Bad-

Rust- The underside of the car doesn't look much different than many other CNY cars- It is rusty. The bigger issue is the right rocker panel is non-existent and the rust has rotted out the bottom of the right rear fender. Interestingly enough, the left side looks great- No surface rust, except for some light rust inside the left rear fender.

Check Engine light- P0442 & P0455 (EVAP related). I have had this evap leak for a few years. When NYS inspection comes around, I clear the codes and readiness monitors the night before and drive ~10 miles, then the car is ready for NYS inspection because the EVAP monitor testing hasn't completed yet. I have a feeling that a simple smoke test will reveal a cheap EVAP part is leaking.

ABS light- This originally occurred many miles ago when I had a local mechanic press in my left front wheel bearing and he pressed it in backward. I have since had a new bearing pressed in properly, but I believe the ABS sensor was damaged during the process. A new ABS sensor is on order and I believe it will solve that problem.

Missing Pass/Right side mirror cover

2 of the rims aren't stock- They are a 4&5 lug universal rim. The car came this way when I purchased it

A few missing hub caps

Front Brake rotors are warped, resulting in brake shimmy.

The Good-

All season tires and front strut assemblies replaced within the past 30k miles

The oil has always been changed with synthetic and I haven't found any noticeable oil consumption between changes.

Left front wheel bearing was replaced within the last 20k miles

Replaced the rear hatch lock/actuator with new OEM unit about a month ago

---------------------------------------------

The way I see it, the parts are worth more than the whole on this one due to the rust on the right side. I planned on having a body shop weld new sheet metal in, but don't want to spend the money/time on it. So buyer be warned- You could use this car for parts (mechanically it's in good shape) or fix up the body and few mechanical problems and have a reliable daily driver.

I'm open to fixing some of the mechanical problems if the deal is right.

I'm also open to driving the car to you if you're located near NYS and are a committed buyer (down payment of some sort would be required).

Here are the pictures. The car currently has snow tires mounted on another set of 14" rims. I can sell the car with either the snows or all seasons- I will sell the remaining set on CL.

Any interest in this? If so, throw me an offer. I would rather sell the car to a YW member than deal with CL.

I'm in Illinois so the distance is quite an issue plus I'm cheap but I'd love to use it as a parts hauler!

Where in NY are you? I live in Ithaca (though currently snowbirding in Tucson).

That's a shame about the passenger side rust. My '07 has seen about ten salty winters and I'm only now getting rust bubbles at the rear fenders, the rest of the sheet metal is still totally fine.

I'm in Cazenovia now. Drove the car for a few years when living in the North Country too.

Dang, this thing would make a great parts car, too. I wish it were a little closer to me.

Very tempting. I've gotten small cars hauled about the same distance for only a few hundred dollars. What does the interior look like? Any weird odors or excessive wear?

I need to clean the interior- I'll clean it this week. Some scratches on the plastic near the hatch just from loading dog crates. Nothing too bad if I remember correctly.

At some point, I'll type up the whole story as to why the right side is that bad. Anyway, there's a lot of lake effect snow in CNY resulting in a lot of road salt flying around. I have family in LI and their 10 year old cars look great!

Rear interior needs removed to see how bad rust is at wheel arch seams and under all floor mats, etc.

Due to a lack of interest on YW, I listed the car on Syracuse CL. Let the games begin!

The car sold to someone local. There are still a few accessories/parts I have in a pile. See the thread "Possible Part Out- 2009 Yaris HB" for details.
