Mileage verification at the JY?

If I were to bring a jump box to the JY (since they pull all the batteries), does anyone know how to power the dash to verify the miles on the odometer? I am looking for a spare transmission and would hate to swap 258k for a 300k. I know the ignition would have to be unlocked, unless a power probe on specific pins would light up the odo/trip meters.

Sometimes they have keys still in the cars but depending on the junkyard they'll write the approximate mileage on the car as well.

As for powering up the instrument cluster, I'm not sure besides turning the ignition on.
