Back in 2015 I replaced the front passenger lower control arm for my brother in law on the yaris I now own. It was a bear to get the front LCA bolt out to swap it. Is it possible to replace just the ball joint? I went to get an alignment and that ball joint is shot so they won't do the alignment. I see moog makes a ball joint (pn k500118). Just curious if anyone has successfully replaced just the ball joint.

I haven't on any Yaris, but have on other imports. You'll need a ball joint press & a snap ring plier. It's too bad Toyota didn't use the bolt on ball joints on the Yaris like it's other cars.

Anyone ever notice how similar (pretty well exact copy) the yaris front end is to a mk2 or 3 vw? They use bolt in ball joints though. Makes for a change anyone can do with basic tools.

Besides, you will have to remove the control arm to knock the ball joint out anyways.

Naa, just rent a ball joint press. Like a big c clamp that has different size cups you can use to press the ball joint out while the lower control arm is still in the car.

It doesn't appear to be being used properly in this pic but you can see the idea
