Absolutely stoked on the result. Wasn't sure I would like side skirts and couldn't install the rear lip as it's for the JDM bumper, however, the side skirts are very conservative (no flares, straight across) and with the OEM mudflaps on the rear bumper, it doesn't look like it's missing anything. It looks better than I expected.
Big thanks to my bro-in-law, @BigHeadRacing (https://www.instagram.com/bigheadracing/) for connecting me with Ken Suen @bigredksr (https://www.instagram.com/bigredksr/), who did the install. I'm just about ready for the San Diego Cruise for Food and Toyotafest 2019.

Thanks, man! With working from home for my last couple jobs, about 7 years now, the car really has turned from daily driver to toy lol. I was chatting with Ken about going truly bananas with a 2ZZ swap.
Who knows what the future holds but it's been a fun ride so far!

2zz would be killer. They are amazing motors and would make the yaris a little monster.

Stunning, stunning little car! With the 2ZZ, you'd have a really zippy an eye-catching ride.

Nothing silly about it. It looks like it means business. And, with the 2ZZ, it would mean business! Do it, man! If you're anything like me - and I hope you're not for your sake - it would niggle at me until I finally abandoned all reason, gave in and just did it. I could have directed my money and time toward something much more sensible, but I just can't seem to. And, as another member recently said, it's as much about the experience as it is the end product. Nuff said! So, when ya startin' yer build thread?

Man, you have a second life waiting for you as a motivational speaker!!
I am a bit like you in that once I get something in the noggin', it's hard to get it out of there.
We'll see what happens

I have seen Vibe GTs and Matrix XRSs with rough bodies selling around here for less than 2k. Could probably buy one, pull the motor, part the rest of the car and end up with a pretty good deal on the motor and transmission.
We have a base model vibe with the 1zz and I've been toying with the idea of putting a 2ZZ into it once it is no longer a DD, so I've been watching the market for them.

Nice looking car, super clean. The one benefit of a 2zz swap is the availability of aftermarket parts specifically pre tuned ecu's from MWR. 2zr lacks in this department big time, no P&P ecu's available

Yeah, I've been thinking about jumping on car-part.com and starting to see if there are any 2ZZ's out there.

Yes, I was talking to Ken Suen and my bro-in-law about that. It would take more fab work than the 2ZR but would have more ECU support.

Imo if you want an engine that you can tune and make more hp then 2zz will be the easiest, if you want an easier swap and OEM reliability than 2zr is the best option

I could very easily drop 20k on MWR's website if I had it laying around, lol

Ha! You guys are the best. I wasn't aware of enginelandinc.com, but I've been holding off on taking a stroll down car-part.com for the same reason
Do you guys think going with the JDM version of the engine would be a good idea? If/when I'm ready, my plan was to use car-part.com and other resources to find a US version out of a wrecked car. I've heard of nightmare scenarios from subtle differences between JDM and USDM.

My understanding is that the USDM and JDM 2ZZs are the same and the only major difference is the ECU

As much as I love turbos, I would go all in on a high revving built N/A 2ZZ.
