I own a 2017 Toyota Yaris. The cap says SAE 5W-30 so is there a specific brand you guys recommend? I also just looked it up and it says synthetic oil when I type that on Amazon. Does this car require synthetic? If so how bad would it be if I put normal oil?

I have a 2010 hatchback with 167K miles and I've been using Mobil 1 0W-30 since it was new, but I live where it gets colder than L.A. :) . I don't believe you need to use synthetic....regular dino oil will be fine. Stick with a name brand 5W-30 with a good quality filter and you'll be OK.

In your climate a decent conventional 5w30 will he more than adequate. FWIW Toyota's oil is good stiff and well priced. Other than that just grab any decent brand name conventional oil when it goes on sale and stick to tje regular oil change intervals as specified by Toyota

Make it stop!!!! Just use any oil. Any brand, weight, type. Dump it in until you get to the dot on the dipstick and drive until until it turns black. Rinse and repeat.
