I feel like Toyota made a losing bet with the fuel cell technology. They wasted time waiting to see if Tesla failed and then they could go back to their bread and butter hybrid-technology. Not saying hybrids are a bad because I feel it's getting us in the right direction and it's more affordable than the BEV alternatives- not to mention zero range anxiety! However, I think the major manufacturers have all been hoping BEVs are a fad and they could focus more on high-margin trucks and SUVs/crossovers.

Tesla is already so far ahead of everyone else with their technology. Once they get their acts together in the pricing and customer service they will be hard to top. Panasonic is a great battery maker, however, and I'm glad Toyota(and others) are FINALLY not just 'phoning it in' with BEVs.

All motorized vehicles are headed towards being either full electric or mild hybrid (48volts doing a lot of things on a fuel vehicle.)

Hoping Toyota can give me as nice a TV ad as the new VW "Sounds of Silence" teaser.

Packaging all their hybrids/EVs (at least in the U.S. market) in horrid eyesore styling designs doesn't help them much either.
