Hello all,

I have a 2012 Yaris 1.5L Hybrid, I have just purchased this vehicle from another guy near my town.

I am facing a strange yet weird issue in the car, whenever there are 3 or more persons in the car, suddenly the car's hybdrid system goes off and the car goes to safe mode and runs only on gasoline, then I have a disconnect the battery terminal grip for few minutes to reset the ECU.

I am attaching the pic of the speedometer as well.

You seem to have a CEL as well. Perhaps you should get it scanned to know why you get this issue.

Do you happen to have the AC on ? What do you mean safe mode ?

Once you pull away and get above 25-30 MPH or give it more than 15% throttle the engine will kick in, The engine will start if you have the AC on or it detects the car needs more power or the battery pack is low

Look at the animation on the screen it tells you the battery state and power distribution

Once the car is in ready mode, Do the lights (symbols) on the dash go out (self check)

Is this your first hybrid ? There may not be an issue at all just you may need to change your driving style

The Hybrid is a good little car - It has the eCVT, not a standard CVT (belt driven) what you find in a standard Toyota Auto (non hybrid)

From the vehicle's manual:

Hybrid system warning light (warning buzzer)
Indicates a malfunction in the hybrid system.
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact
any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.

Apparently there's something wrong with the hybrid system. Nothing to do with the way you drive...

If it isnt solved yet, it could be as simple as the filter for the cooler fan for the hybrid battery need a cleaning.
