Since getting my lovely Yaris I've been making mix-CD after mix-mp3-CD. What are your favourite driving songs? Gin Blossom's "Hey jealousy" is great (especially since it came out when I was learning to drive), though Feeder's "Buck Rogers" is perfect for the situation.

Stolen Babies, Unexpect, Ayreon, Ensiferum, Haggard, Kamelot, Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Therion, Within Temptation, etc.
For long trips I love playing Green Carnation - Light of Day, Day of Darkness. The song is just over an hour long and I prefer listening to it w/o interuptions.

I haven't in this car but I used to blast Orphaned Land, a progressive metal band from Israel that has a few songs in Hebrew and overall middle eastern influences in their found. Quite a bit of growling, especially in their older material. It's amusing to exploit the lack of knowledge in this country sometimes. Can't wait till they release their next album so I can blast that.

There's one segment of my commute home where, if I play it just right and the head wind isn't too strong (which doesn't happen too often), I can FAS for almost 4 miles. That is one hella-long warp stealth.

On that stretch there's nothing better to listen to than Atom Bomb by Fluke.

Conversely, in the warmer months, on my drive up the mountain in the morning when the sunlight comes through in that beautiful yellow tone, I have the window down and I'm tooling right along, nothing hits the spot like Pachelbel's Canon in D.

Well that took guts to say. :) But I agree that Toxic and the like are really pretty catchy. And the best driving songs are those you can scream along to, so, perfect.

Ahh, love the Killers. I have a cd with Sam's Town and My Chemical Romance's Black Parade on it, it's great.

I try not to listen to any CD/MP3 when I am my car, but only radio channels. I still have the stock mp3/cd head unit, and I can't accpet its sound quality cuz I am getting used to better sounds in my other cars.

I will upgrade it when I am ready. I will... I will...

Was listening to Slayer's "God Hates Us All!" and their live San Fransisco Reign but that got me driving too fast. Same with Slipknot's first two albums.

Settled on a Naxos collection of six of Locatelli's Concerti Grossi. Also have a few Bach Cantatas on CD.

Nothing screams "I'm going to smear you into a quivering puddle of goo if you don't get out of my way" like a middle aged man wearing a helmet while singing along with "Herr so du Wilt". Guess it's that Hannibal Lecter ironic tension or something?
