I live in a tropical island, is always hot, I wondering if is safe, good, better use a 170 F thermostat on a Yaris HB. Any info?:biggrin:

We used the Cosworth 159f unit for the Supra in our racecars. Works well in that application because on track there is always airflow through the radiator.

When you think about using one in your daily driver keep traffic in mind, as you sit the temp will climb until the fan comes on. If you want it to be effective you will also need to get the fan to turn on at a lower temp.

I experimented with a lower temp thermostat and my experience wasn't great. My 2010 / 11 Yaris did NOT like the lower thermostat. It seemed to wreak havoc with the ECU.

Based on how the cooling system in cars worm I fail to see any reason to use one in a daily driver.

Not sure what the OP wants to achieve here but I doubt there will be any benefit or any reduction in cooling when ambient temps are very high. If anything the car will fail to warm up in cool temps or take a long time to warm up
