Has anyone else experienced a water pump failure prematurely
i have a 2017 yaris se auto and about 48000km and it seems like the bearing is gone
just curious if this is a known problem.

Its just one of those things a water pump may last a few years or the lifetime of the car
It may just be a one off manufacturing defect that slipped passed QC

Sounds pretty premature to me. I think I got 120-130 k miles out of the water pump on my 08

With the mk2's, it was a known issue, so I assume it would carry on. Starters can stick and grind against the flywheel prematurely, too. For those in the snow, there was an issue with broken control arm bolts, so some folks changed those as a preventative. Aside from those three items, the car is pretty much bulletproof.

It seems that the water pump was binding for a while, now since the water pump was replace if certainly feels more happy to rev and has more power.
