Hoping someone can help me out here. I bought a 2006 for my son to use as a commuter. It ran fine when we bought it. It needed the usual maint items, so I put it up on jack-stands and replaced a bunch of stuff, including new coils (Denso) and NGK plugs (.032). Now when I go to start it, it fires right up, idles for a second and then dies. It will do this repeatedly but never stays running. I confirmed the fuel pump is running. I went to the local pick-and-pull and replaced every fuse and relay under the hood and dash. Still the same result. Each time it throws all 4 coil codes. I'm baffled. One thought I had....To get it on jack stands, I had to lift one side at a time quite a bit. Does this car have a roll-over switch that might be shutting down the coils?

Your spark plugs likely need to be set to .44 instead, if you have the 1.5l 1nz-fe engine.

Why did you replace the coils? Only reason to do so would have been if they'd been throwing codes in the first place. If your old coils and plugs haven't been tossed, put them all back in. Then start over by replacing the plugs, properly gapped.

First of all I would put back the old spark plugs and coils.
You may need to erase the codes otherwise they will still appear.

If the engine runs with the old stuff smoothly, you can change the plugs. No need to replace coils if there is no error code with the old ones (or some "strange" engine behavior).

Make sure your plugs match the engine. The "European" 2SZ-FE likes BKR5EYA but you probably do not have this engine.

I do have the 1.5l 1nz-fe engine. I'll try all that and report back. Thanks!
