It’s hard to break nuts free on old muffler and hard to get old muffler off exhaust hangers . I sprayed silikroil penetrating oil on rubber hangers to get the metal rods out of rubber grommet .

Test to see if exhaust gas/water leaks from joint at start up . After pipes get hot sometimes leak seals. If leak tighten some more. It’s hard to tighten with the springs on bolts. That’s why long double box wrench is used.

Factory muffler had nut built into muffler . Bolt threaded into muffler . New walker needed a separate nut. I held built in nut with socket or wrench (can’t remember ) and used long double box wrench on bolt for removal. Installing I held nut and tightened bolt against spring.

Not sure what you are trying to convey here. New gaskets need to get hot and melt slightly to completely seal the joint. Spring bolts purpose is to draw the flanges together as the gasket seats itself over time.

That’s what happened it leaked slightly when cold but it did seal up nice later . Trying to convey if a nice amount of gas/water leaking out tighten it more.

I had the local shop replace my muffler with 2 different aftermarket mufflers. One was bouncing off the inside of the fenderd since it did not fit correctly The second one he tried just was not quiet. Drove me nuts! I ended up pulling it off my self and installed a genuine Toyota muffler. Now I am happy and learned a lesson regarding mufflers....did you learn anything me sharing this?

The walker has a different shape from OEM but fit quite nicely. One hanger wasn’t used. No problems whatsoever.. I don’t know what your muffler shop was using but walker is a reputable company .

How does it sound compared to stock?
Pretty much the same. Stock had a hole in it and I actually liked the sound of the hole. 😆 .

The old one had a hole . I actually liked the louder exhaust sound of old muffler with hole.. The walker is quiet ; sounds like factory muffler before the hole.
