wheel bearing types

Anyone change their rear wheel bearings with non OEM, and besides Timken, any good brands out there ? I know the Yota one lists for 293.87 each, I can get the Yota ones for 194.35 each. However, on Amazon, there are bearings from 44-170 in price range...thanks in advance...

Any reason you don't want Timken? They are a better quality brand...

SKF is also a very respected brand. Right up there with Timken but sometimes at a lower price. I would be less concerned about the quality of rear wheel bearings as the Yaris is pretty light in the rear. That said, I wouldn't skimp too much. Your OEM bearing price doesn't sound outrageous.

I've seen SKF ones for sale very reasonably priced on this side of the pond. I would probably go for one of those if i needed a rear wheel bearing. My guess is my local dealer would probably want over £200 for an OEM one which is a bit much for what they are in my opinion.

Napa sells this brand, its quality but bad name choice.

SKF, SNR, FAG - these are top brands.
With other unknown brands such as OPTIMAL or JAKOPARTS or NIPPARTS... you may get lucky - I sometimes saw low-cost brands that only repacked the SKF bearings. In that case it is a real bargain but you need to see the product first which usually does not work for online shopping. And beware - Chinese factories know how popular those top brands are so if you see them for really low price then it is almost 100 per cent fake.

I work at Toyota and to tell you the truth, the oems are the best option, I’ve seen aftermarket ones actually mess with your abs, and I’ve also seen one pop out of the hub on one car it was poorly made and caused the vehicle to get in an accident, that’s an extreme example and probably not likely to happen, but just form my experience, you want oem on safety items like that.
