Hi All;

I just changed out the fuel pump on my 2008 Yaris on the weekend.

But Id like some guidance from those of you in the know.

Undoing the damn pump cover was a nightmare, it was rediculiously tight to get off.

Once off i replaced the pump without issue and re-installed it, again without issue.

Refitting the cover was, well, a nightmare.
The "O" ring kept moving around and it took several attempts to get it to sit right.

Then screwing the cap on was tight (is this normal?)
The fuel pump assembly kept trying to push up (spring loaded), against the screw cap, I had to have my son hold the assembly down in place as I screwed the cap back on.

I did it up as tight as I could, perhaps not as tight as it was.

Does all this sound about right?

It took a few goes to get it started , probably the fuel getting through the lines.
Its running with no isses and seems good.

Just worried about the cap and how tight it was.

Wish I could offer you some advice. I'll be facing this soon enough as I have to install an upgraded fuel pump. Hopefully, someone else will offer you advice.

Hope this link works and gives you an idea how much effort is needed to install.
