Hi all

I own a 2012 automatic Yaris and for the most part of 1.5 years my car has been dying while driving and showing the check engine light and traction control. It happens once about every 6-8 weeks, and when I turn the car off and on it seems to run fine after that.

I’ve had it in 3 workshops and the fault code P0011 always comes up and I’ve been told to just continue driving. One place has offered a complete engine rebuild, which I’m not keen on because the car has done nearly 200 thousand already. I’m also female and feel intimated by the mechanics and salespersons, so I’m not sure what to do. Has anyone had the problem before and can give me some confidence on what to discuss with the mechanics to hopefully just show that I somewhat know what I’m talking about and can hopefully not get ripped off?

Thanks!

Sounds like vvti solenoid or vvti can gear could be on its way out. You should really take it to the dealer for a proper diagnosis and determine if you want them to repair it or look around cheaper else where
