I took my Yaris LB to Renegade Raceway's 1/4mile track for test & tune night. There wasn't a lot of people there, so I got about 8 runs in. I took out the front passenger and rear seats, spare tire & tools, and just about anything I could quickly get out. I had about 3/4 tank. If I had been thinking I would not have put so much gas in when I got back from the Scion cruise up Mt. St. Helens. I had a lot of fun. Lost every race, but some of the cars I was up against were 13 sec. cars. A stock yaris auto can do the quarter mile in 17.8 sec @ 76.8mph. My best time was 17.356 sec @ 78.46mph. I know I would have done WAY better with Chino's intake, but with my only "performance" mods being the TRD muffler and NST pulley, I say that's not a bad time. I did manage to launch better than all my opponents, always came out of the start line ahead. A co-worker was in the stands and watched me do 3 runs, even managed to get a video. As soon as I get the pics/video I will post them here. I know I was probably one of the slowest cars there, but I had a lot of fun and launched really well. And most importantly, it wasn't on the street.

As long as you had fun and did it legally is all that matters!

lol

When a ricer/racer pulls out the seats and spare tire and jack to drop vehicle weight it's considered cool and understandable.

When a hypermiler does the same thing it's "over the top" or insane.

Go figure.

Ah well, the day when we see Import Tuner and such magazines start to drool half as much over MPG figures as they do over HP figures, it will be a step in that direction

Funnily enough, I don't see that happening anytime soon...

I know I was getting the best gas use out there, the entire time I was there my gas didn't drop a bar. Got quite a few thumbs up:bellyroll: Oh, I added videos!

Nah, when you start wearing only a thong to lower the unsprung weight that is a different story.

Yeah, everyone there said they hadn't seen a Yaris race before, and a few people had never seen a Yaris before. (Not common 'round here.) I don't know what my HP and tq are right now, I know what it is stock. My TRD exhaust was used as a dyno test unit, and it added 2+hp, and the NST added 2-6hp (est). Once I get the Short|Sucka intake I'll take my car to a dyno shop, and give the 1/4 mile another shot.

It doesn't matter what the other drivers think or say at the track or otherwise. The bottom line is this, there are those who do, and those who do not. You being there at the track shows which group you belong to.

Your 60 foot launches look great. What times are you running through the 60?

This is what my slip said from my best run:

R/T: .157
60': 2.551
330: 7.256
1/8: 11.123
MPH: 63.84
1000: 14.490
1/4: 17.356
MPH: 78.46

Drag DR-4 Gloss Black alloy wheels with Nitto NeoGen ZR high performance all-season tires. The wheels are 17"x7" with a 40+mm offset and a four bolt pattern, 4x(100/114.3). The wheels are 10 spoke and weigh about 16.5 lbs. The Nitto tires are 215/40 ZR17 NeoGen ZR M+S all season performance tires. I got my fastest run when I dropped my PSI from 50 to about 25. Would have gone lower but I wanted to make it back home safely!

Sorry to burst your bubble and I'm in no way trying to defend the Yaris as a fast 1/4 racer, but a stock Nissan Titan does not run the 1/4 in the 14 second range. It actually runs a mid 15 which is still very respectable. I'm also a Titan owner and I've done my homework believe me. My name is Clash4X4 on TitanTalk.com.

If you needed to lower the presure on 215 Z-rated tires on 7 inch rims, then you most have been slamming it into drive after reving it in neutral. Back when I was a kid, my brother use that technique on a new corolla my dad bought us. The car needed a new transmission after 10k.

Putting a Yaris on any drag strip is just twisted Astroman! You must be a glutton for punishment or into S & M....

Its like putting powdered sugar on a hot dog...it just isnt done!

Nope nope nope! I know WAY better than that, I'm not a stupid kid, 26 in fact and have owned many vehicles. When I was 17 I busted the motor mounts on my Ford Galaxie 500 because I had it revved up real high and it slipped into drive. ANYONE who revs up their auto and drops it into drive is a dumbass. I lowered my pressure because that is what the other racers there were doing, and I wanted to see what adjusting little things would do. (It was test and tune night.) I did manage my fastest time this way.

You haven't seen my secret room have you, ha ha ha. Yeah, I knew the yaris wasn't "fast", but it was a non-competition night (test & tune) because if it was I would have only gotten in 1 race . Now if it was a 60' drag race, I would have been doing just fine, lol. Just wanted some base numbers you know, before the NOS or turbo goes in. :bellyroll: Also, just wanted to see when I get Chino's intake just how much it helps.

Now did you just leave it in D or did you go through 1, 2, 3 and then D? I'm racing mine on the 22nd, last time I raced was in a /6 74 Dart (Best of 20.59) and I just went through 1, 2 then D.

I actually left it in 3. The car performed a little better than in "D". Manually shifting thru the gears is useless in the Yaris auto because it is electronically controlled. You can go all the way to L while doing 60mph, and it won't drop below 3rd gear until your speed comes down into the 40ish range. If the auto wasn't elec. controlled, I could have squeezed a quicker time. It shifted into 3rd gear too soon, and I lost a lot of speed gain. Check out my timeslip numbers, my MPH didn't go up much from 1/8 mile point to 1/4 mile finish due to the elec. shift. I tried putting it in 2 but it stayed put in 3rd. :frown: I know the manual yaris wouldn't have this issue, but I did get great launches and didn't have any traction issues with my nitto neo gen tires.
