Sadly the yaris won't be missed by the general public. The number of people that appreciate a pure, simple compact car without all the bells and whistles is on a steady decline.

but dont forget giant suvs, idiotic 4 door pickup trucks, not so minivans and now super heavy too big too expensive electric vehicles!

Yep, sadly It's most Americans nature to live the irresponsible debtor/ save little or nothing for retirement/ work 40 years, but don't have a pot to piss in and then blame others lifestyle.

I got triggered!

Proud to be a weird, live below our means, no debt American.

I wish they were still making a true Toyota Yaris hatchback, but I understand why they aren't. I certainly like the Corolla, but I loved the simplicity of the Yaris. I probably won't be buying a car for many years, but when I do, it might be something like a Honda Fit or similar (hopefully they'll still offer it with a manual transmission in the base trim, but I doubt it).

I like to pay cash for my cars and the Yaris allowed me to do that.

Corolla APEX, Corolla Special Red Edition, Nightshade editions. Is this really what Americans want?

I miss the cup holders in the old Yaris that were placed high up by the AC vents. That was good engineering.

The Yaris died when it lost its identity and became a Mazda 2 with a rebadge. I'd rather it die than live on as something its not.

At least it lives on in the rest of the world. 25 years from now if anyone of the new Yarii are still around we can import them to the USA.

Not only lives on, but is thriving. The new GR-4 Yaris, born from the WRC champion car, looks insane. Not to mention the hybrid and other options it'll come in. I understand that there's a much bigger market for it over there, but it still stings the nostrils.

If that G16E-GTS turbo I3 does end up in a corolla over here I'm sure someone will be able to get their hands on one and swap it into a yaris.

They would have to bring back the Yaris pronto if there was another oil price spike.
