08 yaris hatchback calls for 175/65 14

Les Schwab is saying that they put 15-inch tires on my car last time.

I am the second owner of the car and nobody has changed the rims. I cannot get a hold of the tire dept at walmart because of covid and they put the tires on before Schwab did.

Can 15-inch tires be put on 14-inch rims? Any logical reason why I would have tires that are not called for?

It costs $20 per tire more for the 15. It makes no sense.

There is no way in any universe that a 15" tire will fit on a 14" rim. What is molded in the sidewall of the tires for sizing numbers?

The '08 hatch I had had 15" steel wheels from the factory, so yours may have came with them as well.

Have you checked your tires to see what size they are? It should be marked on the tire.
