Toyota big brake option

I've recently come across the following brake setup on Yahoo Japan and felt the need to share with the rest of the community.

The ad reads that the calipers are single pot 60 series Harrier calipers and the discs are from an ST246 Caldina.

Calipers

When cross checking the calipers against other models, the following models seem the share the same caliper in North America

- Scion IM 15-18
- Scion TC 10-16
- Rav4 05-18
- Mirai 15+

It'd seem like the easiest and cheapest option for calipers would be a Rav4, especially here in Australia.

Discs

Now the discs are a little more tricky. The ad mentions they are using ST246 discs that have been redrilled to 4 stud. When looking at the ST246 discs, the specs are as follows

Centre Hole Dia:55mm
Front Diameter:296mm
Height:49.3mm
Thickness: 28mm

When comparing against the RAV4

Centre Hole Dia:62mm
Front Diameter:296mm
Height:49.3mm
Thickness: 28mm

So the main difference being the centre bore. It makes sense why someone in Japan would go straight for the ST246 disc given the correct centrebore, but it might actually be possible to use a ring spacer machined to correct specs in order to fit the rav4 discs.

Matching rear brakes

It's also interesting that they make mention of using the CT200H rear brakes as another upgrade. Looking into the CT200H discs they appear to have the following specs

Diameter:279mm
Height:30.3mm
Thickness:10mm
Centre Hole Dia.:55mm
No.Of Bolt Holes:5

The factory Yaris rear disc end has the following specs

Diameter = 259mm
Height = 31mm
Thickness (Max / Min) = 9/8mm

I'd be keen to know though whether the disc is actually properly aligned in the caliper and whether or not this would all bolt together.

A big disclaimer with all of this - it's all based on the previously linked Yahoo ad. I have not validated any of this, but figure its an option for those looking for an extra 20mm over an above the Corolla/XD brake setup.

I've always felt the stock brakes with stainless lines and upgraded fluid is plenty for these cars, but it's good info to have and might help someone.

I've also already purchased all the components for an XD/Corolla upgrade so I won't be going down this route myself. Hope someone does though just to prove it can be done :)
