Hi all,

I would like to remove the badges so I can spray them black. How easy is it to remove them and then put them back?

I'd rather remove them so I don't get spray where it shouldn't be.

I used an expired plastic membership card. The thickness of the membership card was smaller than the thickness of a credit card. With that plastic membership card, I slid it behind the emblem and it cut through the sticky tape like cutting butter. Dental floss doesn’t do it in MO. After the emblem was removed, it was just a matter of cleaning up the residual glue. I’ll be doing the second emblem badge next weekend. Good luck with your project!

Get a hair dryer or heat gun and warm it up before you try and pry it off, it'll make it easier.

The front emblem is held on with tabs, I managed to just yank mine off when I swapped it out for the Netz badge.

Putting them back on involves cutting many small pieces of 3M or other high quality 2-sided tape. Definitely not difficult, just finicky. There are some pics to give you an idea in this thread:

I think there are some liquid types of adhesive that might be easier and less time consuming, but I'd want to be sure that they did damage the paint, or make them too hard to remove later if you had to remove them.

I used 3M tape on some badges. I also used the Clear Silicone Rubber seal that’s normally used for House Doors and Windows on other badges. The house silicone rubber seal worked great on the badges! Make sure you clean up the excess silicone. Here’s is a pic of a tube of clear silicone.

Is the rear badge tacked in with tabs also or is it just taped on? I thought about "plastidipping" my rear badge and emblems, but now I'd like to see how yours would turn out first. For the front badge, you'd have to remove the bumper to safely remove it. it's not all that hard to remove the bumper.
