What a really nice Yaris! Those European-look 7-spoke rims really fit the car.
I would love a side-shot with a little more distance and without the wheels cranked so we could see the ride height.

Hey, Yaris Palme, I like your new wheels!
But, now that you've removed those awesome OEM wheels, can you tell me the size (17x6 or 6.5 or 7) and ET (offset)... it should be stamped on the back of each wheel.
And tell us about your new wheels... what size and ET are they?
I presume you kept the stock 205/45/17's. Is that right?

what in a standard 1.8 yaris? Mine seems faster than 9.3 seconds whilst driving it, but i've never timed it! The people at toyota reckon 9.3. Either way you time is impressive.
How dya go about disabling traction control? In my SR there is no button, i assume you have to do something under the bonet?

 Yeap. Toyota numbers are really conservative.
First you got to see how heavy are the "bloody" rear seats...
I took them off and ride every day without them
For those fast runs I also took the spare tire, jack, tools and ran with very little fuel.
Now, for the Trc Off trick... Yes this car has no Trc off bottom so I just removed the TRC/VSC fuse out. It takes 5 seconds after you find it on the fuse box.
IMPORTANT...!!! By removing this fuse you will loose not only the Trc Control and the VSC but also the ABS.
I would not recommend this to anyone unless you are in a control environment ( Road Track) since the behavior of the car under extreme conditions will change.
By removing the fuse I was able to launch the car at higher rpm's and slip the tires a little bit without the car pushing the brakes by itself or cutting the power.
To put the car back to normal, just turn off the car, install the fuse back and re-start the engine. All functions should be back.
I'm currently looking for a way to install a switch within the cabin to disable these functions.
JStarkieUK
10-20-2008, 05:29 PM
sounds good, installing a switch should be quite easy. I have found my traction control has cut the power on me sometimes especially in wet conditions.
What im really interested in is either a supercharger or turbo for the 1.8. Have you heard of anywhere that supply these, I have searched the web but have had little success!
CASTREX
10-20-2008, 05:37 PM
OK will spare you some time...
This car has been out for a really short time... so the support so far is ALMOST zero.
There are NO Bolt on turbo kits for our cars and I don't know of any company coming up with one in the short term.
There is 1 supercharger wich seems really well put togehter. But has one dowside. The price is outreageos.
Hopefully YARISPALME will bring back the supercharger thread. HE is the onlyone with first hand experience since he had the chance to actually drive the test car with the SC installed.
The kit was designed by a shop in Swisterland. You can find the details on their site:
http://www.trc-tuning.com/_frey_shop/_products/_toyota_lexus/_yaris_verso/_yaris_2005/_yaris_2005.htm

Thank you very much I will take a look at the link!
Its a shame there are no bolt on kits available, at the end of the day, a turbo is a turbo! It shouldn't be that hard so why have none of the manufacturers made anything yet? They're missing out! Same for superchargers!
Thanks for the information buddy !
CASTREX
10-20-2008, 05:57 PM
I agree with you... a turbo is no rocket science.
The problem I see is that the people who bought a Yaris did it mainly because of the fuel economy. There are some that put some money on normal bolt on performance parts such as CAI's, headers, exhaust.... etc
But when it comes the time to pay $$$ for a quality turbo kit... there aren't that many.
I have concidered a custom turbo set up, but as been discussed many times here... the tuning of these new Toyota ECU's is really tricky. Some people had been able to tune a Yaris but other have failed.
Since our engine was also released on the US this year on the Scion xD, the new 2009 Corolla and the New Matrix, I'm waiting to see if any options comes available for any of those cars.

EDIT: TTE seems to have done a supercharger for the Corolla TS.
CASTREX
10-30-2008, 01:36 PM
Yeap, plenty of support for the old corolla TS. Including turbo kits and superchargers.
But our engine is not a 1zz nor a 2zz. Is the New 2ZR which is very different to the old zz engines.
